Lake Heron
The fisherman hunter and I headed inland to Lake Heron for a spot of fishing today.
We hardly saw another soul. Amazing really when I think of the people on Orewa Beach last week. We mosied along the lake edge spotting and casting. There were plenty of fish there.
I savoured the tranquility and peace. Just being there was enough. That's the Arrowsmith Range in the background with the Cameron Glacier just visible on the right. Yes, a bit more snow that you'd expect in January (though the Arrowsmiths have permanent snow and ice).
Large is more tranquil
The fish were feeding on Damsil and Dragon flies. We saw one large trout completely clear the water with about 30cm of air beneath! It would have been after a dragon fly.
The fisher/hunter lost a fish and other than that we couldn't tempt them with any of tasty lures or flies.
Unfortunately I had a bit of a mis-hap. You'll have to read tomorrow's blips for details ;-)
