The trees lie where the wind took them down. All these have fallen in the storms of the past two or three years. They have incredibly shallow roots, and when one goes down with a curl of the wind, it carries down the others nearby as they all become stable. The council cut away the wood where it obstructs the path, but the rest is left to slowly rot back into the peaty Argyll soil.
