All shut up

The cave co-operative in our village closed last year as it had made huge losses. It's sad for a wine-making village to lose its main producer, but this is happening in many small villages where caves are amalgamating. Growers now have to transport their grapes to other villages. This cave was named after the Carignan grape, which grows very well in this area, and made wine for over seventy years.

It feels quiet, like a closed cave, here today as our daughter and her boyfriend went back after spending a lovely weekend with us. I will, though, have more time for commenting on blips now after a couple of days away from it!
