Found this old railroad cylinder lamp online after a long search. I'd had one exactly like it as a young child. The heat from the incandescent bulb within creates the amount of heat that induces an inner cylinder with fins that act as a fan after the bulb heats up. This would cause an illusion of the smoke billowing out and the train wheels turning. Yes, not high technology but to a young boy in the late fifties and early sixties, it was like magic.
