Yamaha SR 250 Crankcase

I had a great day working on my motorcycle.

The seized and much abused crankcase drain plug in the photo was successfully removed and the oil changed.

The hand painted yellow identification markings tells me this motorcycle has an engine recycled from a parts yard… interesting!

Yesterday I had some difficulty keeping the engine going as I rode around the block for the first time as the engine wouldn’t run at an idle.

Quite a difference when I fired up the engine this afternoon having pickled the carburetor in solvent overnight.

The engine idled nicely and ran quite strongly, though some tuning certainly remains to be done.

My little “rat bike” is coming along nicely already.
