When we should have been in bed, we drove to Scalby Mills to carefully pick our way by the light of the half-moon up the Cleveland Way steps to the clifftop, in search of the northern lights. They weren't there. It was a mild, clear night and we enjoyed stargazing and the view across the north bay to the (mostly) sleeping town.
