Cumberland and Westmorland wrestling

One of the few pedestrian underpasses in Carlisle has been repainted with some brightly coloured murals. This one shows Cumberland and Westmorland wrestling. The two competitors grasp each other at the back and attempt to throw the opponent to the ground. The kit is traditional. Events are held at many agricultural shows.

Yan (one), tan (two) is the local patois for counting sheep.
