Can you spot the Avalanche Barrier?

Tavayanne is a tiny hamlet of completely wooden chalets that are only occupied in the summer. The chalets nestle at the foot of a ridge that avalanches frequently. The village is protected by a diagonal earth bank that catches the avalanches which slide off the upper slopes regularly. Today we went skiing for the first time in many years, the knee support and cushioning from yesterday's injection, worked a treat! Exhilarating learning to use the new carving skis on virtually empty slopes (can't believe I said that!)
