Wintry sky and tree

Friday :) Had a late cancellation. Received the message yesterday evening that my 9 am student was unavailable today, so an unexpected sleep in (the first in a long while). Up at 6.30 am instead of 5 :)

Two lessons today, and some lesson prep, then a tram ride to Andel to go and do some shopping (nothing interesting - a couple of sweaters that were on sale, and groceries). On the way in the tram passed by Palackeho Namesti which is the site of a massive statue of František Palacký who is one of three men honoured with the title 'Father of the Nation'. The others are Charles IV and Tomáš Garrigue Masaryk. The statue was designed/built by Stanislav Sucharda & unveiled in 1912 in the square that bears Palacký's name. According to one site I checked, the allegorical bronzes represent the oppression and awakening of the people.

Now for a weekend of editing and class prep. Next week is the first in a three week string of 6 day weeks so planning to relax and enjoy this weekend! :)
