Uncut & Unabashed

Today I stayed in bed for 6 hours after I had already woken up and just read. I don't think I ever read as many pages in one sit- that's a lie, I definitely have done this before, but not in a looooooong time. So today I read 200 pages in one sitting and let me tell you. THIS BOOK IS AWESOME. Seriously. I got it after my obsession with Divergent started to border on crazy. And it really is taking me back to freshman year of college, and how it feels to have a crush, and the first time I slept with a boy, and first kisses with someone new.

The second part of my day was spent reading Earth in Mind: Education, Environment, and the Human Prospect. Although it was assigned to me for class I would read this book in a heart beat for no other reason than pleasure. It's an amazing read and coupled with my Foundations of Education class is really making me more excited about my choice and calling in the teaching profession. It's so much bigger than I ever realized, and I might romanticizing the profession but damnit someone should.

So yeah, today was just reading reading and more reading. Which started to make me think about my previous affirmation to pursue creative writing. Do I want to start to write again, or do I just want to read? Who knows, but I'm having fun figuring it out!

Later we went to see Zach perform in a stand up comedy show. He was super funny, and we all shared lots of laughs and had a couple of drinks. Because we sat in the back off to the side and didn't pay attention to many of the other acts (they were not as funny, I'm sorry), a few people seemed to think that we were young professionals of a start-up company getting some after work drinks. I guess we didn't fit in much with the rest of the 20-something hipster crowd even though we are 20-somethings ourselves. But that was funny nonetheless. He couldn't have been further from the truth.
