Abandoned by darlling daughter

My daughter got her first mobile phone a week ago. When she texts me my phone alerts me that "Darling Daughter" is messaging me. It makes me smile.

Tonight is church youth club night. Darling daughter, aged eleven, returns and abandons her pink shoes ..... As I sit on the settee with Friday night washing gently over me I look at her disguarded shoes on the floor in front of me. I think of my closest friend who lost her daughter aged twelve (darling daughter's best friend), a few months ago .....I know I am blessed.
