Giraffes, Armadillos and Sloths

Today we visited Rio de Janeiro Zoo. It wasn't as good as Buenos Aires but was still worth a visit! I got to see an Armadillo and a Sloth, which I've never had the pleasure of viewing before, and they both made me very happy - they are very comical creatures! We also got to see a condor up close, which was incredible due to their enormity! I certainly wouldn't have wanted to be on the other side of that fence!

The reason I decided upon this shot instead of one of the more exotic animals is that there was no wire or fencing impeding the shot. With my camera and its pitiful zoom (x4!) I have to seize opportunities- such as when a giraffe decides to stick his gigantic neck over the fence and say hello- when they come along. He was definitely a character and my favourite encounter with a giraffe thus far!

We also got to ride the Rio subway which was surprisingly easy and efficient! The rest of the day involved a swim in our roof top pool, a walk to the lake and an italian dinner on Copacabana with a very strange waiter.
