Continuing the celebration ...
...another day of doing something Mr B wanted to do for his birthday! Not a great photo, but in fact the only one I took today, having omitted to pack a charger plug and having to wait till we were in the car heading home to give my phone some juice. We were in the Scottish National Gallery to see the Vaughan Collection of watercolours by Turner. Vaughan stipulated in his bequest that these delicate watercolours should be ‘exhibited to the public all at one time, free of charge, during the month of January’ and that is what happens every year. This is the first time we've been to see them; they're wonderful and we spent a fascinating hour in this small room reading the descriptions and admiring the paintings.
Before visiting the watercolours, we had coffee in the Scottish Cafe and Restaurant, and when we came out of the gallery we returned for some lunch, were recognised, and were shown back to the table we'd vacated an hour and a half earlier. This is a shot rather randomly taken from our table before my "low battery" warnings got too intrusive.
Another place where we were served great food and treated to friendly and agreeable service. What a good birthday that was!
