The sad tale of the Joppa Whale...

Down the beach with Max and Barney early this am we noticed the rocks out to the east looked a wee bit different.
It was just starting to get light so all we saw was a shape really.
I took a few shots with my pocket camera but we couldn't be sure what we were seeing, maybe just rocks(?)
Stuck them on the computer when we got home and straight away Luca (a keen Octonauts fan) insisted it was definitely a whale!
So back we went, this time directly to the rocks and with my proper camera.
By then it was light and sure enough it was a whale on its side, grounded on the rocks.
Obviously dead and with at least 1 large wound pouring out blood :-(
I guess it may have died out at sea and been grounded on the rocks by the tide.
Maybe the rocks caused the wounds.
Anyway, word is it may be a Sperm whale, which would be pretty unusual for round here.
