A Year in Phnom Penh

Rush hour in Phnom Penh

Berry and I finished work promptly today and headed up to riverside. We'd been hoping to catch sight of an event called Dai fishing which happens once a year when the fishing laws are relaxed on the Tonle Sap for a very short period and people can use large bag nets to fish as much as they want. Literally thousands of people take to the river to take advantage of this.

However, as we headed towards the riverside, Berry got a text from his contact at the Fisheries administration saying it would not be happening in Phnom Penh today after all.

Instead we ambled along the riverside enjoying the exhibitions from Phnom Penh Photo Festival 2013 and eating ice cream. Due to meet friends for dinner we got on our moto to head home for a quick shower and change - or so we thought. We forgot what rush hour on the Riverside can look like. It took us nearly half an hour to move 200m.
