Hawk-eyed

A distinctive, tremulous hovering
Amongst the screeching gulls
Caught my attention.
The kestrel swooped and landed
On a frail branch on the coastal downs
And arrogantly surveyed the scene,
Exuding power and intensity.

I was thrilled to see this wonderful predator so close and to capture it.

On a predatory theme, around this time last year I witnessed The Killing in my back garden.
