Thames in flood photobombed by Rosie
Despite a vague idea that I might get up early to take some dawn shots of the floods, I was too comfortable and warm in bed. Sorted out a Tesco delivery for tomorrow and then went out on my regular litter pick. Loads of stuff to pick up today including large numbers of vodka, rum and beer bottles. It also seems that drinkers of Red Bull always dispose of their cans by chucking them into the bushes.
Had lunch with son number 2 and then cycled down to Sonning to check out the flooding. It was flooded around this time last year (28 December 2012) but I think it is worse now. The mark on the lock keeper's cottage says 1947 and the Thames is now about 6 inches below that.
The path to the lock was completely flooded and the water was higher around the lock than on Boxing Day and the lock keeper's garden was completely flooded. I met a man walking his dog (Rosie) at the lock and we both walked on a little until the path that runs along side the Thames completely disappeared. I was taking some photos of the trees and the reflections as Rosie was enjoying dashing through the flood water. I quite like this photo where she dashed into the frame and was caught by the bright sunshine.
Pottered around the river and took a few more shots. There were lots of people out with their cameras and just looking at the river.
