Francis, the apple man

In the pannier market again .... Francis sells apples of many old varieties from the orchard at his farm where his family have lived since the 1880s but he has documentary evidence of the orchards being in existence in 1660! I bought some called Lady Haverings (I think) and made stewed them with red currants and blueberries from the stall next to his, to eat with the pecan and ginger biscotti from the WI stall. All delicious.
