It's always useful when new developments result in new points of access to existing canal towpaths but the usefulness is reduced when single-wayness-without-cycling-exemption roads are used, especially when anyone joining the one-way road from the canal would not have any signs indicating the permitted direction of travel, unless they've not installed them yet as they've not yet officially opened the link, which might explain the foot of churned grass between the towpath and new path.
