SPEEDY

On a very rainy, grey, windy day, this little red squirrel was just about the only animal at the feeders. He sits atop the suet cage and fattens up on the peanut butter-flavored suet. For something so little – 5 to 6 inches (about 15 cm), it is absolutely fearless. He goes wherever he wants to go and chases anything in his way – even the mean black squirrel of yesterday’s blip will run off quickly if this little red comes along. Also, he is the fastest animal I’ve ever seen. I swear he can run down a tree and up another faster than a bee could fly the same distance! I hope the conservation groups in England and Scotland are successful in trying to save the red squirrel population from being overtaken by the greys. These little reds are so cute and fun to watch.
