SQUARE and SUNDAYSKIES

This is a shot of the Moon taken at 12.06 this morning, 12th January - and I know it's not exactly SQUARE to fit in with DDW's January Challenge, but please be gentle with me - it's in a square frame and I'm tired!

I also wanted to try and blip this to include it in my Sundayskies challenge, that CreativeLenna started a few weeks ago.

We were in bed particularly early for us - at 11.15 p.m. and several times, as I nodded off to sleep, I dropped my book, but at 11.59, I crept out of bed as Mr. HCB was already asleep, and stood on the bedroom balcony to take this shot. All the information I had read told me I needed a tripod, a cable release, a notebook etc etc - but I just held the camera and hoped for the best and am quite pleased with the result.

Information about the moon on this early morning:

Waxing Moon — The term used to describe the period of the Moon as it moves from a New Moon to a Full Moon, increasing in visibility with respect to an Earth-bound observer.

Gibbous Moon — There are two Gibbous phases of the Moon, with the first representing the growing moon between the First Quarter and the Full Moon and the second when it describes the Moon growing smaller as it shrinks down from the Full Moon to the Last Quarter. These phases are referred to as the Waxing and Waning Gibbous, respectively. Tonight's is a Waxing Gibbous Moon.

The moon is 85% of full.

So there you have it - my best Moon shot - and I am now off to bed - good night fellow blippers - have a great week!
