Thats magic

Anyone who frequents Queenstown of an evening will be familiar with the sea of backs facing you as you hit the waterfront. In sunny weather, our resident street magic man is wowing the crowds from 7pm. I am pretty sure he does a 2 hour show and his comedy styling always attract a large crowd, naturally not everyone has time to watch has entire show so you see a good turnover of people during that time. Some shy people probably just run away when it comes to the audience participation bits.

He does have to remind the audience that he is a busker, the hat in front of him is not for decoration, it is for donations. "I do not get paid by the hour" I have heard him say many times as I pass and the side splitting "the average donation around here is $50" - the crowd love that one. In the end he asks people to give whatever they think it is worth and that he feels $5 is a fair amount to donate. You can barely buy an ice cream for $5 here so you are doing well to get a full outdoor performance for $5. I just hope people pay it for the show they just watched.
