Give us a hand...

Did you know a bunch of bananas is called 'a hand'? I bought these yesterday at the farm shop. When I was growing up in the 50s in east London, we very rarely saw a banana, let alone got to taste or eat one. Today they are the most popular fruit in the UK, even outselling apples. The skins on these ones are already starting to brown so I might have to finish them off quite quickly. I've just had one with my breakfast cereal and I might just have a banana sandwich for my lunch or a naughty sliced banana and ice cream for my pudding this evening!
