Adventuring

The morning was sunny and crisp. The weekend paper had an article about street photography that read like a call to arms cameras. I ventured into town in search of a shot with no agenda other than 'street'. I traversed Edinburgh's west end in search of its hidden treasures. I went here. I went there. I zoomed in and out. I'm not sure I took any notable photos but it felt like good experience.

In the evening Dr T and I attended the Porty premiére of The Railway Man about the wartime experiences of local man Eric Lomax. It was hosted by Portobello Open Door and included a Q&A with Lomax's daughter, Charmaine, who shared her unique insight into her father's life.

I would certainly recommend the film but it is not for everyone. Lieutenant Lomax was a prisoner of war in a Japanese camp in WWII and the torture scenes seemed pretty realistic to me, reminding me of events at Guantanamo Bay in more recent times.

It was a lovely evening of community cohesion with much food for thought.
