Lakenheath Fen

Inspired by the Flopsybunnys, we took a trip out to a different Fen today.

It was mighty cold with a freezing wind. We took a flask of hot soup and were glad of it. It was the hot and extra hot chilli soup, so very warming indeed.

We saw an egret and a couple of barn owls as the sun was going down. One of the owls was so close by, nearly the closest owl I have ever seen. The closest ever spotted owl was in Ireland on a quiet quiet road, on the way back from the pub. We looked up and on the phone wire a great big owl, which gave us a gaze and silently flew off. Owls, magnificent birds.

I'm still frozen, having trouble getting thawed out. The ironing will surely soon have me hot and steamy. Off I go......
