Ayrshire College Board development day..

On 1 August a new large college came into being in Ayrshire, as a result of the merger of Ayr and Kilmarnock Colleges, and the Kilwinning campus of James Watt College. In the photo are some of those taking part in a development day for the Board at which, in addition to myself, there were presentations from three council Chief Executives and a leading businessman. The fascinating thing for me, was that each of the speakers stated they had seen a significant improvement in the quality of engagement since 1 August.

Colleges of scale combined with a strong focus on the learner and on regional economies, is part of the reform process now well underway. The people on the photograph are leading the drive for a more focused as well as an enhanced role for the college in Ayrshire.
