Colchicum hungaricum

One of a few bright flowers catching the mid-day sun in my cold frames today. I stole a minute or two down the garden ("I'll just go and empty the compost bucket") while the Yorkshire puddings were in the oven. :-)

Quite a few crocus in flower but this little beauty stole the show. I raised this from seed sown in 1999 ..... after 14 years I have just two bulbs so it cannot be described as vigorous!
