Beautiful Buenos Aires
We had a super smooth flight from Heathrow to Buenos Aries, during which time I watched the wonderful film Sunlight on Leith and slept like a baby for a good part of the 14 hour flight. This meant that we arrive in the morning at our lovely hotel in the Recoleta district and able to go to our room for showers and freshen up.
As the rest of the day was free we found a nearby coffee house then climbed aboard the wonderful Hop On hop Off bus and did a circuit of the city to acclimatise ourselves with it. Like all cities it has it wealthy and run down areas but the architecture is so interesting, there are clear influences from Spain and France and even a little British.
Today's blip is of the famous Casa Rosada (taken from the top of the bus) where Eva Peron spoke to the masses. Tomorrow we are doing a more detailed tour with a guide so we will be filling in lots if the blanks for today.
I must say it was tough sitting for 3 hours in the beautiful sunshine with a soft breeze, especially after the weather we've had in the UK recently but it was the most amazing tonic. I wish I could truly bottle it and bring it home but for the next 2 weeks you'll just have to use your imagination!
This is a new continent to us as travellers and we didn't know quite what to expect but the people here are very friendly and helpful and we are already falling in love with its unique charm.
I really do wish you were here!
