Lamp: modern old style
In the olden days, narrowboats would have had brass lamp fittings, probably gas mantles, like in a caravan I once stayed in a long time ago. Nowadays, they have old-fashioned style lamps, but with electric lights. Typically they run on 12 V, so you need to buy car headlamp-type bulbs.
Back in the house, we had all new-fangled light bulbs. These light bulbs have come on in leaps and bounds since the original dim-seeming ones that took a while to warm up.
On the boat, we have halogen ones, which we hope to replace with LED ones. LED lights are another type of light fitting that has come on leaps and bounds over the last few years.
