Diamonds and Sapphires

We've been looking at jewelry just recently. Whilst in the jewelers I thought that some of these pieces would make good subjects for a macro blip (maybe I should have been concentrating on other things).

Anyway here is Mrs W's engagement ring. These are old stones cut with a deep pavilion (the bit at the back of the stone) so there is more diamond than a modern cut but needs more light to light them up. So I lit them from underneath which is why you can see all this odd stuff going on around the ring.

I quite liked the patterns and shadows so I left them in.
