emergency repairs

The second frosty morning of winter and the water main bursts.

Mid morning I turned the tap on to fill the kettle and nothing came out.  The water company's phone line gave details of a leak and said workmen would be on site soon.

We had a few small bottles of water (and plenty of wine) in the house but I headed out later to buy a large bottle of water and see if repair work had started. This was an early photo. The men were waist deep in a hole when I passed later. Our water was back after 3 hours and I didn't have to resort to the wine!
