Population Control...
...in Guernsey.
This blip, inspired by my mate, JacZero.
A difficult subject, which all the Guerns will know is population control for such a small island.
Did you know that there are two housing markets 1) Local and 2) Open Market ? If you are interested, further information can be found here.
When I came to the island, the qualification period to 'become' local was living here (with a local person or 'under licence') was 20 years. If you were in a 'relationship' and that broke down, the 'clock' went back to zero - and you had to start all over again.
A lot of people, teachers, doctors and the like come to the island for a limited period, say 5 or more years and will get a licence for that period. Generally, after that period has ended, they have to leave the island.
Here is my 'card' which I need for employment and now qualifies me as a 'local resident'.
Thought this would be a bit of information for you all.
