Still Standing

This is the ruins of St. Fidamnans (or St. Adamnans's) Chapel which is not too far from home. Although the chapel dates to the 15th Century, tradition says that St Adaman (born in Ireland in 624 AD) who was the 9th Abbot of Iona and the biographer of St Columba, founded a cell here in the parish of Slains. The “buried church” at Forvie also bears his name.

The ruins now sit in a field by the roadside, with the surrounding area overgrown with vegetation. I often drive past and always check to see that the arch is still standing.....been checking now for 13 years and it's still there :-)
