Hot Water
Our water heater WORKS!!! So exciting. It has been finally working and regularly heating up our water for showers for the last 3 days no. No problems at all. So amazing! I have no idea when the water heater actually broke because since I have lived in this apartment for the last 4 months....it has never worked!
The funny thing is that my roommates and I never noticed until sometime in November really that is was broken, because we're in the Middle East and the sun is out almost everyday, constantly heating the water through solar power. It wasn't until the weather changed, the cold started to come in and a few rain storms hit, that we all realized we only have ice cold water available and would shower every few days by "bucket bath." Going back to my Botswana roots.
I started this battle of the water in December and after many many discussions with my landlord, who only speaks the local dialect (which I speak none of) and my school not really understanding what the issue was, yet the drivers were convinced we had no problem....my school called the water company to come out and take a look. After tons of people roaming around the house from the water company and my school as well as the water company unable to find where the water heater for our apartment was (on the roof and on in our apartment like other people's are)...it is fixed and continues to be fixed!
Its glorious!! It hasn't gone lower than 65 Celsius in days. So exciting. Don't have to time my bathing around the sun anymore. I already did that for 2 yrs in Bots and its really luxurious not to do that now.
Back for another week of school. Went to school this morning and work this afternoon. Met with my boss and he says he's going to find a 2nd project for me to work on while I have some down times in between the original project I'm already working on.
Had a great long weekend. It was the president of Jordan's birthday, so we got a national holiday and day off yesterday (sunday) and a three day weekend. I went out to dinner with friends on Thursday, did almost nothing on Friday, went to my friend (who I met last term) Evan's house cause he made a huge brunch, then met a new friend from my class at the mall for dinner and finally on Sunday I went to a cafe to study Arabic with Colette.
Was a nice and busy weekend...not starting up a nice and busy week....just how I like it!
