Let There be Light!
We visited Linlithgow this morning, to walk round the Loch and visit the Palace. Because it was such a glorious October day, we had a picnic at the lochside. We went into St Michael's Parish Church which is right beside the Palace and found this modern stained glass window by Crear McCartney which was vibrant with strong colours made all the more striking by the autumn sun streaming through. The colours in the window were reflected onto the floor and I did try to get a good image of the window and the reflections but it didn't work so well as an integrated picture. So I've just blipped the window.
On the way home we stopped at Blackness Castle on the Forth between Linlithgow and South Queensferry and opposite Rosyth. Ususlly when seen from the Forth Bridge it looks really dark and forbidding, but today it was bathed in sunshine and was impossibly warm for October. Although it was built in the 15th century, it was latterly used as the main ammunition depot for Scotland until the end of the 1st World war.
