Exit stage left

An 8pm blip

The 13th lived up to its name a little today but at least it wasn't Friday. A 45min journey to work took at least double that although my concerns were most definitely with the people involved in both accidents. One, in particular, didn't look good.

Run in, grab notes, run back to car, get to first client and realise I've left the key for the paperwork case on the office desk, wing it and then peg it back to the hospital before rushing to the next one. My day pretty much carried on in the same vein.

Lots of rushed phone calls to the agency and the umbrella company who never answered or replied to my emails. At the end of the day I finally bumped into my boss so had to sod protocol and hand in my notice. Horrible, although they were lovely about it and I was only on a week's contract on this job but I wouldn't have started if I'd been 100% sure that I'd have to leave this early. I'd been completely honest with the agency throughout but funnily enough this info hadn't been passed on. Still it was a huge relief when it was done. It'd been stressing me out all day.

And now I'm at a rehearsal for a play I was meant to do lighting op for but I'm going to have to find a substitute for. One thing two bad journeys today has done is to reinforce the need for a contingency in travel plans when you're committed to a show and there's no way I can guarantee to be back from London in time. Portsmouth would've worked but not further.

So today was basically a day for letting people down and feeling let down. At least I'm getting it all over in one day.
