MARISCHAL MOON
Marischal College has been converted to provide a 21st century corporate headquarters for Aberdeen City Council.
The Grade A listed college’s interior was reconfigured to create 18,500m2 of work space across six floors of predominantly open plan offices.
The college is the second largest granite building in the world and one of the most striking landmarks in the city. Its renowned Marshall Mackenzie frontage was completed in 1906 in the heyday of Aberdeen’s granite industry.
With the demolition of the city headquarters we have gained
an unrestricted view of the building looking down school hill
However, this is about to disappear behind the proposed ten storey office and hotel development with Aberdeen ratepayers handling a large proportion of the financial risk , whilst gaining no civic amenity.
