Chesil Beach after the Gales.
The Chesil Beach, an 18 mile stretch of pebbles running from Portland to West Bay. The pebbles are naturally graded with larger ones at Portland to fine gravel at West Bay. The beach took quite a battering during the storms, with the massive waves reaching the top, overflowing onto the road. Now with a lull in the weather the bulldozers are building it up again. Amazing the power of the sea has changed the shape of the beach by moving tons of pebbles, either onto the promenade or back into the sea. Tons of rubbish was washed up onto the beach including a dead cow! (Removed yesterday, thank goodness)
Today is our Wedding Anniversary...2 years of married bliss! We went to The Cove, at Portland for lunch, and then a short walk along the prom.
