Bedtime Reading with La Roja

Day one of the blipfoto year coincides with the start of my first book of the year.

After spending the last few weeks in the torture chamber, namely the library, studying Uni notes, it is finally time to find something far more enjoyable and interesting to read.

The author, Graham Hunter, is a Spanish football journalist but a born and bred Scotsman who has family in Lewis - need I say anymore? He is a regular on SKY's Revista de la Liga and his in-depth Spanish football knowledge was deservedly recognised when he won the 2013 Football Book of The Year with Barca.

Last December, Graham visited Glasgow to launch his new book, Spain: The inside story of La Roja's historic treble, at the Glasgow Film Theatre. I managed to get my hands on a ticket and what a a fantastic night it was. Starting off with a chat about the background of the book, Graham went on to show videos from his research period, including exclusive footage from Spain's changing room immediately after their World Cup triumph in 2010.

His unrestricted access was astonishing! Never could I have imagined a football team allowing a journalist to follow their progress in a tournament, never mind the World Cup!! It goes to show that being a professional, trustworthy person pays off - even if you are a journo.

Well now it's time to jump into bed and begin my bedtime reading with La Roja.

Buenos Noches.
