I've driven past this tree hundreds of times, wondering who first painted the features on it. They get revived occasionally, when the paint's gone a bit faded. So somebody's looking after him. I'd decided to park up and walk along the Salt Line, which is a former train line which used to carry salt through Cheshire. Now abandoned, the rail tracks have gone and people walk along it instead.
