Silent Still
No one, but no one in Blipworld is old enough to remember the very first silent movie films. Not surprising , considering the first short film, ‘Roundhay Garden Scene’, was created in 1888 at Oakwood Grange, the home of Joseph and Sarah Whitley, in Roundhay, Leeds, W. Yorkshire. But in current movies, old silent footage is always depicted as jerky, faded, grainy, and scratchy with poor focus, and deteriorated edges. I’ve tried to achieve something of this effect in this picture of some trees in our local park. For some reason, the scene seemed to remind me of these old movies, especially when I sepia toned it.
