The Road and the Miles to Dundee
Funny how the song never mentioned the fog:-) However the weather wasn't going to stop us getting there for a very enjoyable afternoon and evening with friends. First we went to the cinema to see "The Railway Man" and I made it all the way to the end before I cried. Intensely moving film, beautifully acted and paced and so thought-provoking. Deserves Oscars all round!
Then we went on to a restaurant in Monifieth called "Amore Mio" for a totally delicious meal in truly authentic Italian style. Very reminiscent of the lovely food we had on holiday in Sorrento and the Amalfi coast a couple of years ago. We'll definitely go back for more:-)
I had a lovely email from a blipfriend (Elspeth) giving me the recipe for her grandmother's marmalade, using a method I'd never tried before. I had thought I still had some Seville oranges in the freezer from last year, but they turned out to be mandarin shells (left over when I made a mandarin jelly using only the juice).
As I'd defrosted them, I decided to make marmalade with them and a couple of sweet oranges and some lemons. It was very hit and miss, as I had no idea of quantities of water or sugar. It took much longer than usual to boil to a set, but I'm happy to say that the end result is a total success and tastes delicious! Sometimes I even surprise myself:-)
