Painting with a Paper Towel

The simplest of tools,
the cleverest of outcomes,
each is successful.

Linda had us all engaged again today. She demonstrated how to take a canvas that had been underpainted with random paint applied with lots of texture. First, using a palette knife, she layered on paint over the wild underpainting. Then, she used paper towel to swirl the paint around to existing background giving light and dark to sky. She moved on with the palette knife and the paper towel to perfect the land. The painting developed with an Impressionist flare. The before and after is sitting on the easel.

Linda will return to British Columbia in the spring about the same time as I do. However, she won't be returning to Yuma, Arizona next fall. Instead, she will be living in Phoenix, Arizona. I hope she will remember to visit her painting friends here in Yuma.
