Sunshine on Ceres

After some dreich January days it was nice to see the sun shining again - I went for a short drive to the village of Ceres which has been described as the most attractive village in Scotland and certainly it has some interesting old features (Blips for another day!)
In the foreground is the village green known as the Bow Butts where it is said that the men of Ceres were instructed in the use of the bow prior to the Battle of Bannockburn in 1314. In celebration of the victorious return to Ceres of the men who fought at Bannockburn a charter was given to the people of the village by Robert Bruce to hold an annual village games and, with the exception of the war years, these have been held here ever since.
