This looks a useful bit of kit that I've never seen before. It's a sort of vacuum pad, so there is no need to put hands under the heavy paving slab.
On going work in Bromsgrove, this short narrow street will have been closed for about three months before it's finished, not exactly helpful for the shops on either side.
