A back lane in Glasgow
I love old cobbled street lanes in cities, as they remind you of the city's past - back in Victorian or Edwardian times - before the hussle and bussle of todays hectic city streets. Everyone is always in a hurry today - and we are surrounded by faceless metal and glass monoliths that create a depressing and souless existance within any city.
I prefer the back streets where so called progress hasn't yet tampered or interfered too much with the older winding lanes, with a ghostly residue of how they were for our ancestors.
This is North Court Lane in Glasgow, it probably has a shady past and seen its share of vice, drugs and possibly even murder, but it is one of a few hidden gems that exists in Glasgow for just for a few moments feel as though you have been transported back in time... Paris and other beautiful cities have this magic.
