The Bull – Rippingale (and The Archers)
Whilst t'other half was trying for a blip on the other side of the church I pottered about with my telephone getting some good shots of the church tower (from a worms point of view) and East Street etc from the Church Yard, but the shots of the Bull framed by the trees were my favourite. (Personal note – try to flog a copy to Sue, the landlady.)
Normal blippers stop reading here – ‘The Archers’ fans read on:
Few today know where and when (and why) the idea of ‘The Archers – an Every Day Story of Country Folk’ came from.
The idea came from a local farmer, Henry Burt, who lived in the neighbouring village of Dunsby and farmed the land around Dunsby and Rippingale.
Godfrey Basely – the BBC man who started it all, came to visit Henry on a regular basis, and the names and characters for all the original scripts all came from around Henry’s estate, including Henry and his son. It can’t be coincidence that Henry’s foreman was “Jack Archer”!!
