Strathpuffer 24 hour mountain bike event, near Strathpeffer.

The daylight period of this first day is ending, and the participants now face near 17 hours of darkness. There's only a little over an hour of daylight tomorrow before the finish.

There are soloists doing the full 24 hours (or attempting to), along with teams of two, three, or four. Whilst one team member's out doing a lap or two, the others are fixing bikes, eating, or sleeping. Camping in tents or vans, is the the norm. And just in case you hadn't guessed, it's rather cold too. All part of the fun of the event.
