The day the sun came back

At the winter solstice the sun hardly reaches the garden as it is shaded by trees on the other side of the valley. Today it was noticeably lighter first thing in the morning and by late morning the sun had reached quite a large part of the garden. It really felt as though the sun had returned after being absent for a couple of months. And weren't the ducks happy!
