Being Filled

"After they prayed, the place where they were meeting was shaken. And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and spoke the word of God boldly." Acts 4:31

This picture is a reflection of my husband filling the car with petrol. This is continuing with the theme that seems to be emerging about being filled with the Holy Spirit. Today we learn that being filled with the Holy Spirit can help us to speak boldly of the word of God. But another thing that interests me is this concept of asking for the Holy Spirit. I have been quite interested in the phrasing of things after a few things I have heard on the radio (UCB) over the last couple of days.

For example "put on the armour of God" it is not something we already have, it is something we have to put on, a choice that has to be made, an action that has to take place. The devil will not attack when we are ready for it and prepared, he will attack at any moment, and we need to be ready by putting on the armour of God.

Another thing I heard on the radio that I want to share is to do with the Lord's Prayer, Jesus taught us to pray "Our Father" it is the word "our" that stood out to me, that this is not a prayer we pray on our own, but it is a prayer that unites us with Christians all around the world. In a way this is a cure for loneliness, praying this prayer connects us to others, and to Jesus as He was the first to pray this prayer.
